New missionaries came in today, four of which will be Chinese speaking. Out of those four, all three of the Americans will be in our district. Lots of fun. It was a blast getting to know Elder MacPherson, my new companion. He doesn't know I'll be training him yet, but it'll be a fun reveal tomorrow.
For those of you keeping count, this is my third time training another missionary. Elder Liu, my firstborn, is also training this transfer, which makes me a grandfather. I'm also training, which means my son and my grandson are the same age. Hmm. Something isn't right here.
On a fun note, I'm sitting in the branch with my son Elder Liu as he's in the phone with a Tasmania member. He's currently serving in Tasmania, but came into the city to pick up a golden missionary this week. The member is making fun of Liu for being such a lady killer - a good number of investigators are interested in the church in Tas only because he's the missionary. That's my son.
We had some struggles these last weeks. It has been very, very difficult for me, not going to lie. But we press on. We learn and we grow. We can't always know what the Lord has planned for us. But we can trust that he will handle it. Sometimes things go wrong and we question ourselves, we wonder what we could've done different. But things happen, such is the Lord's plan. We keep on going.
Love you all. I'll have an exciting email next week for sure. Goldens bring miracles - looking forward to the coming adventures. Have a great week!
Elder Blackhurst
